London Again Struck by Terror Attacks |  U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May called for an international push to stamp out Islamist extremism online after seven died and dozens were injured in the third deadly terrorist attack in Britain this year.

Speaking outside her London residence at Downing Street, Mrs. May said more must be done to stop people from becoming radicalized and launching attacks.

“Defeating this ideology is one of the great challenges of our time. But it cannot be defeated by military intervention alone,” Mrs. May said, describing Islamist extremism as a “perversion” of the Islamic faith.
She took aim at internet companies for allowing extremism to flourish online and said the U.K. will work with allied democratic governments to reach new international agreements to regulate cyberspace.

She also said the government will consider lengthier prison sentences for extremist-related offences.
Campaigning for the June 8 national election was halted Sunday but Mrs. May said it will resume tomorrow ahead of Thursday’s poll.
